I had the honour of sharing a stand with some top guys over the weekend, very privileged to be part of a brilliant team. I thoroughly enjoyed myself but I'm knackered today!
A big thank you to @fulling_mill and particularly Roly Peto who made sure we were well and truly taken care of all weekend. It was good to get lots of good positive feedback about the gear and materials. I'll try and get some pictures up of the flies I tied during the show....

A quick practice on the river yesterday with Tristan Walters. A few fly changes and we found the fish.
I was gutted that Tristan managed to save himself from what would of been the best nose dives into the river I've ever seen... I need to start wearing my go pro again, it's comedy gold! 👌🏻😄

A big male Grayling gave me a few heart racing moments during the fight. It tried its hardest to get into a snag on the far bank which it did, at that point I thought I either give it everything pushing my light tippet to its limit or resign it to the list of lost fish. Luckily, it turned at the last moment just before I thought my tippet would give out.
The best of a handful of fish today from a tough area practising for the Welsh grayling cup this morning.

An attractor wet fly pattern I tied a few years ago and since put into use over the last few seasons, it's done well for me on the wild brown trout the last few years early season as a point fly. Black and Red has always been a good colour combo here in Wales on the mountain lakes.

Tiny Stream, Mighty Discoveries!
We spent an hour this afternoon kick sampling our local stream. Who knew such a small body of water could be home to so many fascinating creatures?

Heptageniidae nymphs, Rhyacophila, Hydropsyche, Gammarus, Plecoptera nymphs and Baetis and lots of them. It's clear this little stream is thriving well.

Well..he didnt let a good soaking dampen his spirits early on into the day. We dried him off, and he got himself back in the game. The smile says it all Leon Smith.

Turned out to be a brilliant day, we all landed plenty of fish and had a great day. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

A fish adorned with nature's finest colors but it's the dorsal fin that steals the show, particularly in males, a vibrant tapestry of colors, ranging from deep greens and oranges to purples and reds. It's an exquisite display of nature's artistry.

Beautiful wild mountain carp in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I was lucky to be given a JMC Reflex R2 9'6 3/4 wt to try out recently, thank you to @darren_cox_fishing and Nick Galloway of Garbolino UK. Initially I intended to try it out on the river for wild browns but the last few weeks have seen really low water levels here so I haven't had the opportunity to get out as planned. I've been eager to give it a go since picking it up so with the chance to have a go at some wild mountain carp today I thought it would be fun to put it through its paces and was rewarded with a few of these pristine hard fighting fish.
The first thoughts on the rod is its beautiful look and high end finish I dont think I've seen another rod with this lovely gloss night blue varnished blank, it's quite unique. The high modulus 40T-R2 carbon blank provides a responsive and lightweight feel with a lovely semi fast action which will be perfect for presenting the dry fly at wild brown trout. I hope to get out this week coming to use it for its intended purpose and give more of an evaluation.

A late evening session after work a few weeks back with Mr Alan Parfitt.
An absolute gem of a little river and as Alan would say its the Jewel in the crown of some fantastic waters we're lucky enough to fish here in Wales.
Prospecting the small glides with a dry fly catching these little bars of wild spotted gold does it for me. I grew up fishing small tributaries and this just fills me with the same joy I had fishing as a kid.

As i look back through my gallery I'm going to miss these late summer evenings through the winter. I've particularly enjoyed this season, it's been marked by fishing lots of new places and sharing great times with some lovely people.

Scorching day yesterday, way to warm to fish for trout! we decided to have a day out on the carp.
Brilliant day with Tristan Walters Luke Morgan Cole Morgan and my boy Billy.
Lovely to the kids having fun and enjoying the fishing so much! They are well and truly hooked.

That will do for this evening, big old wise fish not easy to fool in really low conditions, but the size 26 super midge did the job again. Im still on the river with fish rising all around me but I'm happy to just sit and watch and soak up the moment.

Fuel for the fly!

I am very passionate about fishing, good food and Nature and I combine those things together to create a memorable day on the bank.

When I came into this I wanted my days out to be different and focus sessions around relaxation, learning in a fun way, enjoying the surroundings and sharing good food .....and of course catching fish!

For me there's nothing better than being next to a beautiful river or Llyn after a few hours fishing and sitting down to chat and enjoying a good bankside lunch.

That's why I offer each session with a lunch tailored to suit each individual. I'm as passionate about good food as I am about the fishing, so its important that its good quality, the ingredients and products are sourced locally in Wales. Whether it be a bankside BBQ in the summer, a picnic or a nice warm Lamb Cawl on a cold winters day get in touch and I'm happy to discuss the my options with you.
I currently hold a level 2 food hygiene and safety for catering qualification.

Demonstrations and tuition

As well as guiding I also offer Fly tying lessons and demonstrations where I’ll teach you the ins and outs of traditional and modern fly tying. With lots of experience being a Pro tier for Fulling mill and found tying at various shows around the country, ive also contributed to various angling publications.

I offer Personal one to one Sessions and group sessions year-round for clients of any age and experience level. It’s a great opportunity to brush up on existing skills or take your first step. I can tailor each session to suit individual needs. I can also be booked for club demonstrations.

Fishing for me is just as much about the experience as it it catching fish, that's why I tailor my days to be very relaxed and about soaking up nature and all it has to offer whilst catching fish and learning something new.
